Educators\, teachers\, and parents face the challenging responsibility of navigating relationships with the complex issues that the current development of AI presents. From this inquiry\, another question arises  (quietly more or less): will AI achieve consciousness? Numerous fields within cognitive science are confident about this possibility\, while philosophers of science and phenomenologists express even greater certainty. \nThe emergence of new “Artificial” Intelligence Systems highlights the essential question of “consciousness\,” often referred to as the “difficult problem” in science. This topic has been the focus of a serious field of study for several decades\, intertwining philosophy\, neuroscience\, psychology\, and neurobiology. One might\, albeit with some “embarrassment\,” characterize “consciousness” as a concept that currently replaces what mythologies and religions have historically labeled as the “soul”: an immaterial principle or vital breath\, or divine spark\, symbolizing that indefinable “other” in relation to the physical body\, which is limited in its capabilities and destined for finitude. This “presence” (soul or consciousness) that resides within us\, or that we inhabit\, distinct from the body or its emerging manifestation\, represents a sort of “imprint” characteristic of humanity\, or of “biological” life\, which differentiates us from machines—those very creations of ours that possess the ability to transcend biological limitations. Reassessing them involves engaging with a conflict that has permeated the history of thought and culture\, manifested in the dialectic between myth and philosophy in antiquity\, between faith and reason in the Middle Ages\, and between science and religion in modernity\, now evolving into a confrontation between spirituality and science. This conflict\nremains unresolved\, deeply rooted in our “heritage\,” and can become painful when it leads to the prevalent phenomenon of our time known as “disenchantment.” Conversely\, it can also inspire new perspectives that challenge the very boundaries of “human possibilities” in knowledge and understanding. It is on this frontier that the educational commitment to new generations is evaluated. Educators\, teachers\, and parents face the challenging responsibility of navigating relationships with the complex issues that the current development of AI\nnecessitates. The focus should not be on whether Artificial Intelligence will eventually resemble human intelligence\, but rather on ensuring that human intelligence does not gradually conform to the standards set by Artificial Intelligence. \nThe seminar marks the culmination of a training course for educators of the Liber School Association\, led by Dr. Alessandra Luciano.
