The Magical Revival of Indigenous Peoples, also known as the Progetto Popoli, is the natural expression of the attention and sensitivity that Damanhur has always devoted to the diversity of cultures and to the wisdom of Indigenous Peoples.
Spirituality takes many forms. For many years, Damanhur has invited representatives of Indigenous Peoples from around the world to bring and deposit a vibrational copy of the essence of their wisdom within Damanhur’s sacred areas. In this way, the gems of their knowledge and experience as custodians of the Earth become part of a living memory.
Indigenous Peoples have preserved, across generations, ancient knowledge that enables them to cultivate a harmonious relationship with nature, animals, and the subtle beings that inhabit the natural world—one based on listening, reciprocity, and mutual respect. There is much we can learn from these traditions, and their wisdom has a vital role to play in the world of today.
A Popolo, or Spiritual People, is a community of people who recognize themselves through their relationship with a territory, the development of a shared social structure and culture, and the values they hold as the foundation of their way of life. Damanhurians, although originating from many different countries and cultures, also consider themselves a young Popolo: a community seeking to build a new civilization by bringing together the positive elements of their original cultures with ancient wisdom teachings and the knowledge of Indigenous Peoples, giving rise to new projects and dreams for the world.
One expression of this vision is the desire to contribute in concrete ways to the preservation of Indigenous cultures, many of which continue to be marginalized and, in some cases, face the risk of disappearing. The disappearance of a culture—and with it the wisdom it carries—is a loss not only for the people who embody it, but for humanity as a whole.
Over the years, Damanhur has sought out and established relationships with representatives of Indigenous Peoples visiting Europe and Italy, inviting them to Damanhur to share their knowledge and to deposit a seed of their tradition within our sacred places, so that it may remain part of the collective memory over time. Damanhurians have also traveled to Indigenous communities in their own lands, seeking to deepen these relationships through direct encounter and exchange.
Since May 2010, numerous representatives, elders, and spiritual leaders from different Indigenous Peoples have come to Damanhur to share their knowledge, traditions, and cultural heritage. Their contributions have become part of the memory held within the Crystal Spiral, a magical structure created to preserve and connect the wisdom of different peoples.
Another important Damanhur project is the construction of the Temple of Concordance, a new sacred space intended to house a Parliament of Peoples dedicated to the wisdom and cultural heritage of Indigenous Peoples.
The Parliament of Peoples is envisioned as a place where representatives of Indigenous Peoples can meet, share their visions, and offer inspiration to the world, bringing their knowledge and perspectives into dialogue with the experiences and dreams of contemporary leaders, communities, and groups committed to social and cultural transformation.
Much has already been accomplished, yet much remains to be done—both in strengthening connections with Indigenous Peoples and in bringing the Temple of Concordance and the Parliament of Peoples into being.
Architects, urban planners, engineers, designers, skilled professionals, materials, financial supporters, and promoters are needed. Above all, however, we need dreamers: people who can recognize the possibility of a new world, share that vision with others, and help transform the dream into a living reality. ‎
