Celebrating 40 Years of Damanhur’s Community School—LiberSchool

May 9–10 — We invite alternative education enthusiasts, parents, and everyone who wants to help build a better world through education to celebrate 40 years of joy and learning at our family school: LiberSchool.

Forty years ago, when Damanhur was only 11 years old, a radical seed was planted: to take charge of our children’s education by creating a school that honored the divine nature of every child — a true alternative reflecting our vision of what humanity could become: free from conditioning, fully recognizing and expressing our divine nature.

That seed grew into LiberSchool, a Community School accompanying children from 6 months to 14 years old in their growth and learning journey.

For four decades, LiberSchool has been one of Damanhur’s most transformative and demanding projects, requiring resources, sacrifice, creativity, love, and an unwavering belief that another way of educating was not only possible, but essential. And the results are heartwarming: today, LiberSchool serves 75 children with 30 teachers and has become a choice for non-Damanhurian families as well. 60% of the children come from nearby villages and 40% from the Damanhur community, with one third having at least one non-Italian parent — reflecting the school’s truly international environment.

In 2025, LiberSchool reached another important milestone: it became a Gaia School, certified by Gaia Education, integrating the four dimensions of the ecovillage design framework — Social, Ecological, Economic, and Worldview — into both our curriculum and daily school life.

LiberSchool’s mission is to accompany children towards harmonious growth — physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually — awakening all aspects of themselves, helping them discover who they are, their talents, their potential, and their desires, and learning to be happy in the world. Our pedagogy is experiential and personalized, built on three main pillars: Travel, Art & Nature.

A school that has weathered challenges other family schools have not, LiberSchool has much to offer the broader educational and parenting community. We feel a deep desire to share this experience with the world — and so our 40-year milestone becomes an opportunity to share:

10:00 – 12:30 | Growing Together — From Seedling to Strong Tree ? Damanhur Crea
Traces and Imprints: An interactive Story Circle bringing together alumni, former teachers, parents, community members, friends and supporters of LiberSchool to share reflections, key learnings, and future directions.

13:00 – 18:00 | Welcome, Orientation & Lunch ? LiberSchool (Calliope)
Opening our doors and our hearts — eating together is one of the key elements of our community life (we are in Italy!). The afternoon will be full of play and deepening your knowledge of LiberSchool through direct experience.  It is joy, movement, music, cake, laughter – a true demonstration of how we live and learn at LiberSchool.

Dreams for the Future: Sharing & visioning session with guests from different networks and alternative schools (Gaia Schools, Rive, Conacreis, Homeschooling projects, Universities, and more…)

A curated space with photos, videos, and meaningful objects will tell the story of LiberSchool.
