Guardians of the Wisdom of the Heart: The Q’ero Visit to Damanhur
Last November, Damanhur welcomed Santusa Quispe Flores and Pascual Apaza Flores, shamans from the Q’ero people of the Peruvian Andes. This visit carried profound significance—they represent the second generation of Q’ero lineage keepers to bring their sacred knowledge to our community, continuing a bridge built by Don Manuel Quispe, whose permission and teachings two decades ago opened the doors for sharing Andean wisdom with Western seekers.
The Q’ero are guardians of one of the world’s oldest continuous spiritual traditions, living high in the Peruvian highlands near Cusco where pre-Incan practices have remained unbroken for centuries.
What made this exchange particularly meaningful was the mutual acknowledgment of energetic resonance. The Q’ero shamans recognized the distinctive spiritual qualities woven into Damanhur’s sacred spaces, particularly the Temples of Humankind, while our community welcomed the opportunity to experience authentic Andean healing practices firsthand, based on the contact with the earth and deep gratitude!

During their stay, Santusa and Pascual offered traditional ceremonies and healing work designed to open the heart—rituals that have been practiced by their people for generations. These sessions, organized by Cathy Milano, created a unique synthesis: the time-tested wisdom of the Andes meeting Damanhur’s spiritual technologies and spaces specifically designed to amplify consciousness and healing.
In a world increasingly disconnected from the sacred, indigenous peoples carry living wisdom that cannot be learned from books. Their commitment to preserving these practices—often at great personal sacrifice—deserves our respect and support.
